Big news out of the scientific community: Sweet treats are officially good for you. Finally.

Experts say the excitement of an inbound treat can help release dopamine — a neurotransmitter that boosts focus, cognitive function, and feelings of joy.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to enjoy something tasty from one of Orlando’s sugar-coated businesses:

  • The Glass Knife serves up gorgeous, ever-changing slices and glazed doughnuts in Winter Park. Pro tip: Pair your dessert with one of their signature lattes, for science.
  • A trip to Gideon’s Bakehouse’s two local locations will lead to decadent half-pound cookies, each one coated in creative toppings.
  • Buttermilk Bakery serves up delectable European-inspired delights: French croissants, Italian tiramisu, and British banoffee pie. When in Rome.
