⚽ FIFA takes Orlando

FIFA’s Club World Cup tournament is bringing 32 of the world’s leading teams to the US for the first time — including right here in Orlando.

This new competition features all six of the international confederations: AFC, CAF, Concacaf, CONMEBOL, OFC, and UEFA. To help you score the most fun during the tournament, we’re breaking down the schedule by stadium.

Camping World Stadium

This stadium has been around since 1936 + underwent a 90% redevelopment in 2014.
  • Tuesday, June 24 | 9 p.m. | Group D — Los Angeles FC/Club América vs. CR Flamengo
  • Thursday, June 26 | 3 p.m. | Group G — Juventus FC vs. Manchester City

Traffic

$4.2 billion. That’s the budget for the Central Florida Expressway Authority’s five-year work plan that was recently unveiled. The plan includes four new expressway corridors, existing roadway resurfacing, and additional lane capacity for State Roads. Work is set to begin in 2026. (Orlando Business Journal)

Weather

It’s officially hurricane season, with researchers predicting nine total hurricanes this year. The Orange County Public Works Department is providing bags and sand to get locals prepared — they recommend bringing lots of energy and your own shovel to fill the bags. (FOX 35, WESH)

80 local companies made it onto Orlando Business Journal’s 2025 Best Places to Work list. The companies — including businesses like Visit Orlando, Fairwinds Credit Union, and Orlando Magic — will be ranked at an event on Thursday, Aug 21. (Orlando Business Journal)

Plan Ahead

Get ready for the red, white, and boom. Celebrate the Fourth and Orlando’s 150th anniversary during Fireworks at the Fountain at Lake Eola Park. The annual event features live entertainment, family-friendly activities, and food + drinks. At 9:10 p.m., watch a fireworks finale accompanied by the Orlando Concert Band.

Outdoors

Did you know that you can get a free tree from the city? Homeowners are able to request a free tree now through Sunday, Aug. 31. Bonus: If approved, the city will plant it for you.

State

Florida lawmakers approved a $115.1 billion budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The budget, scheduled to take effect July 1, will now go to Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has line-item veto power. The budget includes plans to pay down state debt, increase school funding, and provide raises for state employees. (Fox 35)
