We know escaping to new worlds via a book can be better than going to bars — try out the Orlando chapter of Silent Book Club. This monthly meetup offers a chance for you to bring a current read + opt in to socializing as you please.

Act natural

With 3.6 miles of walking trails, the Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve is a great way to enjoy nature one-on-one. Don’t miss the butterfly garden.

Recharge through wellness

Keep your thoughts internal while going with the flow of a free yoga session at Luminary Park. This class happens every third Thursday of the month with Yoga 4 Change — just bring your own mat + water.

News Notes

Civic

Downtown Orlando’s Central Business District is seeking feedback to improve and better understand how people use the area. Locals can complete a survey to share their thoughts and experiences; questions mostly pertain to safety, events, and policing the district.

Development

The Albert Park oak tree that fell in 2020 has mostly been removed from the College Park space. The city will also take down the white gazebo as part of a renovation effort for the park that will include an outdoor pavilion, refreshed landscaping, and new oak trees. (ClickOrlando)

Number

$95,189. That’s the annual income you need to be able to afford a home in Orlando, based on a recent guide by MarketWatch. This assessment used the typical home value of $383,548, which was collected using Zillow data from April 2025.

Opening

Sports bar + dog park Pups Pub is planning to get its paws to downtown Clermont. The company signed a 10-year lease and hopes to begin operations in January 2026. Previously, the company had a downtown Orlando location, but it closed in April. (Orlando Sentinel)

Coming Soon

Grocery store Sprouts Farmers Market has broken ground on its new location in Clermont. The store is set to occupy ~23,000 sqft of the upcoming Hammock Ridge Commons shopping center, making it the company’s first Lake County location. Construction is set to be complete in spring 2026. (Orlando Business Journal)

Travel

Next stop, Appleton, WI. Allegiant Air will start offering nonstop flights between Orlando International Airport and Appleton International Airport. The first trip takes off on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026.

Announced

The City of Orlando Veterans Day Parade will march back to honor military service members for its 26th year on Saturday, Nov. 8. This year, the celebration will take place at a new location on Lake Nona. Applications to participate in the event are open through Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Order up, White Castle’s new location in Clermont has opened. The restaurant can be found at 4551 Collina Terrace in Plaza Collina.

This is Florida’s second freestanding castle and features two drive-thru lanes. It also has indoor seating for 42 people and 14 seats for outdoor dining.

The new restaurant will create 75 new jobs in the community, and at its grand opening ceremony, White Castle presented a $5,000 gift to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida / South Lake County.

The Clermont White Castle is currently open from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. with plans to expand to 24-hour service.

Did you know we’re in the middle of Elvis Week? The occasion honors the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll on the anniversary of his death, but before he died, he was able to make his way to Orlando. In February 1977 the iconic singer performed a sold-out show at Orlando Sports Stadium.
